Forward Motion | Economic opportunity, quality of life, and a community moving forward.
What do we want Round Lake to look like five, ten, or twenty years from now?
I think it’s a question worth asking. We have opportunities to strengthen our local economy, support existing businesses, attract new investment, improve our neighborhoods, and continue making Round Lake a place people are proud to call home.
Progress isn’t just about new development. It’s also about the everyday things that affect our quality of life: well-maintained streets and sidewalks, attractive public spaces, neighborhood improvements, opportunities for local businesses to succeed, and a community where residents feel heard and involved.
These things matter, and they all contribute to the future we’re building together.
Economic Opportunity and Thoughtful Growth
I believe in controlled development that makes sense for Round Lake. We should welcome opportunities that strengthen our local economy while being thoughtful about how growth affects our neighborhoods, infrastructure, services, and community character.
Supporting the businesses we already have is just as important as attracting new ones. Local businesses create jobs, provide services, and contribute to the vitality of our community. We should continue exploring practical ways to help them succeed while encouraging responsible investment throughout the Village.
Our future isn’t limited to one street or one development. It’s about looking at Round Lake as a whole and identifying opportunities to make our community stronger.
Planning for What’s Next
The impending Cedar Lake Road Realignment project will be an important factor in the future of our downtown and surrounding commercial areas. Changes to the roadway will influence how people travel through the area and may create both challenges and opportunities for businesses and revitalization.
We’re not starting from scratch. The Village has plans and guidelines in place, including our Comprehensive Plan and Downtown Development Plan, that help guide future growth and improvements.
I encourage residents and business owners to visit the Village website and review these plans. They provide valuable context for understanding our community’s long-term vision and how we can make informed decisions about future opportunities.
Beyond downtown, we must continue looking at ways to improve neighborhoods, maintain public infrastructure, enhance community spaces, and support the overall quality of life that makes Round Lake special.
Good planning means thinking beyond today’s needs and considering how our decisions will affect future generations.
Let’s Have the Conversation
One of my priorities as Mayor is making sure residents and business owners have opportunities to be heard. I don’t believe good ideas should come only from a boardroom. They can come from a business owner, a homeowner, a young family, or anyone who sees an opportunity to make our community better.
I like to think I’m one of the most accessible mayors you’ll find. I respond to emails, make myself available by phone and text, stay connected through social media, and use this blog to share my thoughts and encourage conversation. I’m also working, attending events, visiting businesses, and spending time around town regularly.
I’m not someone who wants to lead from behind a desk. I want to be out in the community, listening and talking with people.
Stay tuned! I plan to host 10 to 12 Coffee with the Mayor events in 2027, alternating between Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings to make it easier for residents and business owners to participate.
These will be open forums with no set agenda. Any topic is welcome. Bring a question, share an idea, raise a concern, or simply stop by for a conversation. My goal is to listen, learn, and better understand your priorities.
I’m also available for one-on-one meetings with residents and business owners. Those meetings will depend on my schedule, but I’m certainly open to connecting whenever we can find a time that works.
We won’t always agree, and not every idea will be feasible. But listening, asking questions, and having honest conversations are important parts of moving forward.
My goal is simple: to keep Round Lake moving forward while making sure the people who live and work here have a voice in what comes next.
Our future isn’t written by one person or one board. It’s shaped over time by the decisions we make, the investments we encourage, and the conversations we have along the way.
Let’s keep that conversation going.
Forward Motion. Building opportunity. Improving quality of life. Moving Round Lake forward.
