Tonight I had the pleasure of attending the ribbon cutting for the new Round Lake High School Baseball and Softball Complex, and I left feeling incredibly proud—not just as Mayor of Round Lake, but as a proud Community High School District 116 resident and supporter.
The new complex is truly impressive. It represents much more than new baseball and softball fields; it is an investment in our students, our athletic programs, and the future of our community. Providing student-athletes with first-class facilities demonstrates the value we place on their hard work, dedication, and success.
What made tonight especially memorable was seeing so many people come together to celebrate this milestone. Students, families, coaches, administrators, school board members, elected officials, and community members all shared in the excitement. It was a wonderful reminder of what can be accomplished when a community invests in its young people.
Our schools are one of our greatest assets. Although the Village and District 116 have different responsibilities, we share the same goal of building a stronger community for our residents. Investments like this help attract families, create opportunities for students, and strengthen community pride.
Congratulations to everyone who helped bring this vision to life. A special thank you to Superintendent Dr. Donn Mendoza, Principal Brian Peterson, the Board of Education, coaches, staff, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this outstanding facility a reality. Your commitment to our students and our community is evident in every detail of this project.
As both your Mayor and a proud District 116 resident, I couldn’t be happier to celebrate this exciting achievement. I look forward to seeing these fields filled with student-athletes making memories, competing with pride, and representing Round Lake for many years to come.
