The Village of Round Lake would like to remind residents that Clarke Mosquito Management will be conducting an adult mosquito control treatment tonight, September 2, in Round Lake and surrounding communities.
Residents may notice Clarke vehicles in the area as this scheduled treatment takes place.
While the Village encourages all residents to take reasonable precautions against mosquitoes, we are pleased to report that professional assistance is once again being deployed against the local mosquito population.
The mosquitoes have been given ample opportunity to relocate voluntarily. They have declined.
At this point, the Village has determined that further negotiations are unlikely to be productive.
There Is, in Fact, Science Behind This
For those wondering how treatment dates and times are determined, Clarke’s mosquito control program is based on scientific surveillance and established methodology—not simply a municipal official looking out the window and declaring, “Yep. Tonight feels like a good night to get the mosquitoes.”
Clarke considers factors including mosquito activity, surveillance data and weather conditions when determining appropriate treatment timing. These calculations are intended to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment.
So while the mosquitoes may believe tonight’s operation is politically motivated, we can assure residents that the decision is data-driven.
Any resemblance to a mosquito being held accountable for its actions is purely coincidental.

Unfortunately, your continued efforts to bite residents have become problematic.
Your cooperation is appreciated as Clarke proceeds with tonight’s treatment.
Residents who encounter Clarke treatment vehicles are reminded that this is part of the Village’s ongoing seasonal mosquito control program.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation—and for continuing to provide Clarke with plenty of mosquitoes to work on.
